Training course Local Service Delivery & MDGs
Event: This two week training event will address questions as: How can we ensure that basic services reach the poorest? How can financial management of services be organised in a transparent and democratic way? How can partnerships with NGOs and the private sector help local governments to operate more effectively? And, what are the particular challenges for delivering services in violent-prone situations?
Practical information: The course fee is 2.450 euros. This includes all training-related costs for ten days as well as drinks and lunches, training materials and travel during the training.The course language is English. INTA34 World Urban Development Congress
Event:
Regeneration of Pasaia, the fishing and commercial port of Gipuzkoa, and new infrastructure like the high-speed railway will give the city of Donostia-San Sebastian and its metropolitan area an entirely new image. Major challenges are at stake to manage successful integration of the redevelopment: how to balance rapid urban growth while retaining and enhancing the unique historic and cultural environment? Which new functions to develop on the territory? How to raise public awareness and efficiently integrate the population in the decision-making processes?
The 34th INTA Congress will explore different approaches on how development and renewal are reconciled with preservation of a vibrant cultural setting.

2010 Global Mayors Forum
Event: The theme of the 2010 Global Mayors Forum is ‘High Growth Cities: Meeting the Challenges for Sustainability’. Some 1,000 distinguished guests from all over the world are expecting to attend the Forum. They are: 200 mayors, 500 top global investors, 200 top urban operators, 100 experts on urban development and dozens of officials from the UN.
The Global Mayors Forum aims at establishing powerful win-win cooperation, to enable the best of the Forum and enabling each part to get desirable benefits. The 2010 Forum will be divided into three major parts: Forum Conference, Commercial Activities and Peripheral Activities. The Forum Conference includes three sessions, which are Plenary Sessions, Parallel Forum and High- End Dialogue.
